Hi all i'm a bit new to all this so please excuse me if I get the terminology wrong I Have a GT sts which is currently set up for downhill I believe as it only has 9 gears. I would like to convert it to more either 24 or 27 for easier everyday use. I bought a groupset of ebay a while back but cannot see how to mount the front mech. I have aquired the small mounting post needed for this bike, but it looks like it is too short. Is there such thing as a low mount front derralieur?? I have seen top pull and bottom pull ones but not really sure what that means. Any advise appreciated. Thanks Rob

You need a low band front mech, I think the term is bottom swing. Had the same issue with my sts, but get the right mech and its all good.
