Even the trek ones had some genius touches. The evolution BB is simple, effective and lasts for donkeys years. The evolution headset was ahead of its time too, but sadly became obsolete as 1,1/8" became favoured.

I have ridden a few of the modern ones and they are certainly decent bikes at the upper end of the range.
