I'm a bit dubious about the claim that they make rims for Alex, who as far as I know are a rim manufacturer, it would be a bit like someone claiming to make cranks for Shimano. It makes no mention of the hubs or spokes, so there's no way of knowing what the quality of the hubs is like and I wouldn't bank on the spokes being stainless; I would always go for stainless spokes as galvanised ones generally get scruffy quite quickly.

They may be fine, but it's a bit of a gamble and for not a great deal more money you could get a set of hand built wheels using known components: http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/w ... -disc.html or for very similar money: http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/w ... heels.html

The look to me like they take a screw-on freewheel

Good point, it does look like the hubs are for a screw on freewheel, in which case, leave well alone, only BSOs still use screw on freewheels.

So do you recommend these wheels
