Use handle bar plugs

Just finished a build and no matter how hard I try to cut non use bar plugs, they simply don't fit that well and don't stay where they are put. I could glue them I suppose but has anyone had the same issue and successfully solved it without resorting to glue?

Sadly not as due to the design, there is no grip or bar end so the plug would be much bigger in diameter than the bar.

I've solved similar problems in other areas by winding some tape arounded the plug or the inside of the socket. Gorrilla tape is best if it isn't too thick - the glue and tape are extremely strong and the glue has decent water resistance.

Because the bars have a wedge in them from the way the semi-integrated bar ends fit, you can onl eve really have half of the end plug inner bit inside the bar, which is why it doesn't stay flat when pushed in. What were the original use bar emd plugs like?
