92 Marin Bear Valley colours

MarinMania

Retro Newbie
Having identified the original colours of my old BV (Gloss black rear end, the rest satin black) and also having obtained a superb set of decals via Gil_M, my dillema now is how to recreate this and protect the decals, as the originals were gone within a couple of years!
Is there such a thing as satin clear coat? Or maybe dust on multiple thin coats of gloss clear coat... Or find someone to do it for me...

Thanks - Mark, Perth WA.

I think most just use helicopter tape. that said my gil_m decals seem to be fine with no protection and they have been subjected to off road mud and washing with a hose.

Hi,
For alignement of the decals have a look at my Bear Valley thread in my signiture, I too have the 1992 bike. If there is such a thing as a satin clear coat, I've never heard of it and Marin didn't use it! My decals are starting to lift now and I am seriously thinking of peeling them off and replacing them. Not sure if any of this helps.
