Anyone recommend a good, well priced and currently available v brake rim?Any thoughts on the Mavic XM117?They look ok and seriously well priced(£20 in CRC).

The 317 would be good, I'm looking for xc717 in the old black (silver brake surface) and an all Silver one.

But if I was building a cheaper good set it would be the 317

I think the XM's are a general purpose rim and are heavier.

I'm a big fan of the XC717's. I've built several wheels with them and now have three sets of wheels with them on.

SJS Cycles often have bargain rims.

Technically its xc717 over the xm 317 are 20g lighter, welded instead of pinned together and gain an annoying click when the tab thing in it dislodges.

XM317 over the XM117 is eyelets for the spoke nipples if I remember correctly.
Probably some Aluminium alloy variant as well. I cannot remember.

These are the older style ones 2011 and before, not seen if the newer ones have changed.
