This is bugging me now :| I think it's American, but I keep thinking of the road bike brakes whenever I look at that rear end... Maybe some sleep will help me remember..

It's bugging me too as I've also seen it recently. Although being in Vancouver maybe I just happened to see the same Craigslist advert?

No idea what it is... but from the pics looks like the plate under the BB and the one at the top of the chain stays aren't original - might explain the differences in weld quality. Just my thoughts anyway.

I thought of that too. However, the bottom addition is not a plate. It is a box. The bottom wields appear messy. The top of the box apepear more clean. It could be a later addition. Some of the wields on the plate are smoothed.
Does anybody have any clues? I still don't.

Hi guys.....just sent the question to the guys at BMXMUSEUM.COM at got the answer: It´s a TERRIER -bike...they also made bmx-bikes in the mid-nineties. Apparently they also produced some MTBs. Would like to know more about this company. Here a link to a TERRIER bmx:
