Personally i would install it. It shouldn't do any harm as you have to adjust rear mech limits anyway.
With it insatalled.....
pushes body and cassette out 1mm or so. I don't expect any isuues.
Again, all should be well but, If the cassette you install gets too comfy with spokes, things may happen. Especially the cassettes that are 'spidered' rather than 6 riveted and the rest loose.
To realise you need a space afterwards may result in stripping the whole bloody lot out...grease...lost bearings...oh my!
I suppose you could always do a dry run before re-installing the axle etc...to see which works best. with or without vs cassette to be used.
