If my bike takes a 26.6mm seatpost will I need a 28.6mm clamp? I ask this question as clamps only seem to come in 3 regular sizes of which 28.6mm is the smallest. The bike btw is a Parkpre Comp Limited........

Shimano front mech :?: If so undo the clamp and look inside it will give you the clamp size of the mech unless the tube is bulged or tapered it should tell you the seat clamp size

My Saracen takes a 27.2 post, a 28.6 front mech but a 30.0 clamp so its not always obvious if there is a tapered tube, I certainly couldnt tell when I ordered a 28.6 seat clamp... :roll:

I know, its annoying! Though in fairness I think it is down to the tubes they use rather than them being difficult. For reference, my saracen is an 853 frame, which may have different dimensions in terms of tube thinkness to say a 501 frame etc, and then you still have to take into account any butting which I am told can be external. Not sure how much truth is in that though - I am ready to learn otherwise.
