Did Suntour have any top pull front mechs?

Back in 1992, Suntour was at the forefront with new features in their high end groupsets, with features such as Microdrive, Self energizing brakes and grease guard. What puzzles me though is that it looks like they only had conventional down pull front mechs in their high end group sets, such as XC Pro and XC Comp.

I mean, some bike manufacturers that year switched to top pull, finally getting rid of cable pulley constructions or even more weird alternatives.

Browsing through the fantastic brochure archive here on the site, it seems Suntour did not offer top pull for their high end line up. Am I right?

Yes.

EDIT better add to that.
It was 1990 I think they probably introduced it*. In 1991 it was to quote suntour "Top-Pull still available"

Here's the 1990 and you can see it just sat there in the pucture (the left one)

they only had Top-Pull written on it. No song or dance made.
Same model for the XC group and lower down had a slightly different colour/material setup.

*I've not actually looked earlier than that.

EDIT2
Found the 1991 page with detailed spec, later the design changed slightly for MD shifting.

and the quote in the change log

You can see the FD-TP00

Look like this.
Quite a normal mech and not like the XC styling.

That seller still has it for sale. Or should I say 'had it for sale' ;)

Thanks a lot Fluffy :D

Do you notice what looks like a pointless bit on the mech ?

I might just be testing out a use for it I've just thought of if the mech fits.
(I do not actually know why it is there)

That one you bought is a MicroDrive profiled mech from memory and looks in excellent condition.

The black paint is a bit fragile, I have a nos one in a box and the paint has chipped off a bit here and there :(

...

I think, you´re referring to the little "fork" which protrudes downwards from the lower part of the clamping. It was designed to hold an adaptor with a cable housing stop, that was used on frames with continuous cable housings (no stops at the down tube).

This clamp was the earlier design also known from the XCD 6000 group, imo also a little bit "cheaper" design-wise. ;)
