somebody on here had a set of forks with shot elastomers that they replaced with springs.

the consensus was that it would not work very well as elastomers act as dampers so the forks would be bery boingy.

anyone remember the thread and how it ended?

BITD the advise was to replace the elastomers in one leg with a spring and keep the elastomers in the other to retain some damping.

How would that work? Wouldn't the fork rebound at the rate of the spring and the elastomers rebound at thier own rate?

Yes an unloaded fork would, but with the riders weight against one spring and one elastomer stack all is ok, clearly we're not talking Marzocchi coil/oil smooth and lovely movement but it worked.
