Hi Bart, Thanks for the info. More pics. Sorry they're crap but my garage is rammed and I haven't the time nor inclination to sort it. Anyhow, a couple more pics... and any idea's on the colour and whether its a respray or original if anyone knows please.

It looks like the decals are on top of the lacquer. Could you confirm that?

These M2's had these decals on the downtube. Does yours have them? Never seen them on a respray.

Think that the decals are over the top of the paint. It only has the decal at the top of the seattube. Don't think there's one at the bottom of the seattube. It's looking like a respray has been done then I reckon. I'll try and get some 1 inch forks, headset and stem and decide what to do with the paint from there.
I was hoping to swap the xt groupset and Manitou forks over from my Marin but the forks are 1 1/8th.
The money pit starts again :?

Thanks for your help with this Bart it's much appreciated.

Just look for a 1" steerer for the fork! And if you decide to do a respray, get some yellow decals if you paint it red. 1994 had yellow decals, 1995 had white..

Headset looks the same as the 1" Specialized one on my'96 M2 Pro roadie, so its probably original. Serial looks like '94 to me.

I would say its a respray with later decals.

Was it the Marin IFT you were going to use as a donor? Shouldn't be too hard to get a crown or crown/steerer to suit, you should be able to use any crown/steerer from Manitou 2 through to the Mach 5 on those forks.

Is there a source for '94/95 Stumpy decals? I am fiending to get one to restore myself.
