Pronunciation of Mountain Bike Manufacturers

Retro Guru
I've always struggled with the pronunciation of many manufacturers.

I am sure there are many other people who suffer from the same problem!

How are the following pronounced:

Ringle
Bontrager
Kona AA
Marzocchi
Sachs

I am sure there are more, I'll add them when I remember.

Jon

Rin-glay
Bon-tray-ger (hard G)
Open up and say"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
Marzocky
Sacks

that help?

not if you want to stay true to the companies' origins (read: use their own language) ;)

- marzocchi with cchi like englisch 'cheap' without the p ofcourse
- sachs will be too difficult for you english :D (ch like the spanish say the j in eg 'juan')

btw, just curious how the english cope with:

- zonenschein
- commençal
- Nicolai
- batavus

I had some one ask me about my 'clean' ( Klein as in Calvin) I think theywere from USA.

sorry but you're wrong re Marzocchi: in Italian 'ch' is pronouned as a hard 'c' (as in 'sock') ;) It is only pronounced as in 'cheap' when followed by 'i' or 'e'.

However, if being true to German roots then I am indeed wrong re. Sachs.

well, after the 'ch' in marzocchi is an 'i', so......? :D

but I am not 100% sure, any italians here??

the 'i' is after an 'h' which makes the 'c' hard...if you follow me!

trust me... I'm right on this one!
