How to remove a U-brake?

Hi

Might seem like a daft question...but how do you remove a U-brake?

I have undone the long bolts from each side, each brake arm twists freely but they don't simply slide off as I expected. I can see a small pin sticking out that looks like a spring but can't work out what I should do to get the brake arms off?

I'm plan to 'caustic soda' out the seat post soon and don't want to unintentionally melt the u-brake!

Thanks for any advice!

Should just pull off mate
The end of the boss might be damaged or Summat

Vigorous yank.
The studs are the same as a Canti stud. That's what the pin is for.......

errm....no......U brake studs are thicker than canti studs and no pins involved. They should just pull off mate...no grub screws or anything. Light tap with a hammer or some penetrating oil may help. :D
