I have finally acquired a 1988 MF Explorer in relatively good condition.

Its had a few upgrades and i want to get it back to original spec. The parts with it that seem to be original are Dia Compe brakes (levers and calipers) and one Suntour thumbshifter.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on a parts list please?

I've found a few original ads dotted about but cant read the type as its too pixellated.

So need info on brakes, seat post, pedals, cranks and front and rear derailleurs.

All input muchly appreciated.

:D

I have one which, apart from tyres, is 100% original - I'll have a look for you.

Mine's for sale if anyone's interested - PM me.

Specs on mine are:

Cranks - Sugino 175mm, 110/74bcd grey anodized, Sugino bolts and self-extracting dust covers
Chainrings - Sugino 48/38/28, ovalised, black anodized with Muddy Fox sticker on outer
Pedals - VP, but I don't know if they're original
BB - metal-cupped cartridge unit. Does have writing on it, but I can't make it out.
Cassette - Suntour 6sp screw-on with plastic spoke protector disc
Shifters - Suntour Accushift black
FD - Suntour XCD black/silver
RD - Suntour XCD black/grey

Brake levers - Dia-Compe 282 black
Front brake - Dia-Compe E86 grey
Rear brake - Dia-Compe 990 silver
Seatpost - Strong, 27.0, silver (stamped 2.88 so it's definitely an '88 bike)
Saddle - Muddy Fox own brand, leopard pattern
Saddle binder - mine is Kalloy so may not be original
Headset - Tange 'sealed mechanism', black

Hubs - Sansin Muddy Fox, grey
Spokes - look to be plain gauge stainless
Rims - Araya 26x1.50, 36h front and rear

Hope that helps.
