There are manufactured clamp-on stops but they're made for round tubes, so you would have to do some serious fettling to make them fit your ovalised top tube.burtoncle":2qapa4yq said:
Do you have the 'dog collar' cable guide? I'm not sure how suitable the 1992 version of the dog collar is for doubling up as a cable stop, but the later ones were quite suitable for this (and the bigger the size of the frame the better they worked).

That's what I did on my 1995 Kilauea - I drilled the cable guide out to accept a stepped ferrule and then used a short length of cable between that and the V brake guide tube, which I bent slightly to get a better cable run.
It all works fine.
