Hi All,

I have recently got my hands on a rather tasty Balance FS.450 Manitou Comp. This bike is UNTOUCHED and apart from age and usual wear for a bike of this age, is in original condition.

However because of age the original elastomers in the rear forks are degraded and fell to pieces when I removed the stanchion. The elastomers in the front forks are completely missing, and the forks were left bottomed out.

Does anybody know where I could source some replacements or have any alternative anecdotes to replace these parts for a rare bike?

Cheers!

Welcome! Elastomers are available but tend to be pricey. There is a place in the States that ship to the UK but I forget who at this time. Ah, found it:

Get your post count up a bit and get some photos up sharpish, we all love a good Manitou!!

Damn it, teach me to skim read the title at work when I shouldnt have been browsing the web
They stock the replacement elastomers for this bike too though, so I wasnt a million miles out, but more by luck than judgement!!

Good to see some interest, thanks.

Pictures will of course be uploaded when the i have sourced the parts and put it back together...

On another note: On further inspection the only thing missing from the Manitou comp front fork is the elastomer, can a spring conversion be used?

Cheers!
