now i have your attention, i have a quick question. i bought some rim tape (22mm). the tape i want to replace is 16mm (or maybe 18mm) can't remember exactly now.
anyway, are there any potential issues with putting wider rim tape where narrower rim tape used to be?
the rims are D321s......
it'll only be covering an additonal 2/3mm either side - not sure if this would be an issue...???
advice appreciated :)

Provided it sits at the bottom of the rim and doesn't interfere with the tyre bead, you should be fine.

I once needed a rim tape, got caught short.

so, i just went round the rim 3 or 4 times with electrical tape, you can even chose your fave colour then

I usually check for burrs on nipple heads first but, never had any probs with this application.

Electrical tape is fine..... It's as wide as you pull it tight so it's light!

I've had electrical tape in one pair of wheels for over 20 years - no problems so far. :D
