right then

tried some spacers on the topline cranks , the spacers i have are 7.1

the distance between the large c / ring flat to the tip of one tooth on the middle is exactly 5.0 mm

the distance between the middle ring flat to the tip of one tooth on the small is exactly 5.0 mm

so with the 7.1 the both distances are exactly the same

the same as on the girvin cranks

is this GOOD / CORRECT

Sounds good to me. Is the spider on the topline cranks perfectly flat or does it have any recesses e.g. on the back side for the middle chainring to sit in? Just trying to figure if I'll need the same length for my cranks.

the spider has no recess for the middle , the middle ring sits on top ( reverse / back )

the large ring has a recess to sit in

so with the small ring raised on the 7.1 spacers the gaps are 5 mm

the spider from the flat of the recessed portion to where the middle ring sits is 3.5 mm

didn`t take photos and changed them back :roll:
