I guess this might be a very personal thing, but is there a general opinion as to which was the best year for the explosif?

I like the look of the 94 / 95 frames, but was the columbus as good as the later years which used renoylds?

i'd say 93/94 Columbus & reynolds both top tubes so down to personal taste IMO

In my opinion, 1997. Full Columbus Max Nivachrom (including seat/chain stays), better dropouts than the 95/96 and better tyre clearance too.
V brake cable stop on top tube .

Thats like asking which PlayBoy Bunny is better... far too many subjective variables involved. Some prefer the paint of one year, some prefer Reynolds, others prefer Columbus or V Brake stops
