as title, a question emerged today that I wasn't sure of.

has anyone ever made a converison kit to make a non-disc hub accept a disc brake?

I know a2z and others made frame conversions but has it been possible with hubs?

I would imagine not because of the stress involved probably being too much for a hub not designed for taking the strain of braking but would love to be proved wrong as it would make one of my projects a lot simpler!!!

Yes, they do exist but I can't remember who makes them, possibly a Canadian company if memory serves?

i have such a thing in the cave ;) it was made by mr dirt .

i'll get a couple of pictures later for you

look interesting... do you fit them to the naked hub then lace through the hub & adaptor ring to fit one or can they be retrofitted to a built wheel?

I've used one before, bolts to the eyelet holes on the hub.
would rather buy a proper disc hub imho

From reading up, you fit the adapter to the naked hub, using some of the existing hub spoke holes. You then lace the wheel up using the spoke holes in the adapter, the normal holes on the opposite side.
