Hey..

First post! I recently had to clear out all my old stuff from my folks' as they moved house. In doing so, I came across my old bikes...they're a sorry sight having had no attention for the best part of a decade, but they have rekindled something in me, all the same. I've spent the last week or so lurking on here getting a feel for the surroundings...figured it was about time I introduced myself!

Hi, done a few posts but not yet introduced myself so...

I bought an old Scott summit MTB (1997) a few years back for about £30, with the intention of using it as a Uni bike ( automotive engineering :D ) till I could get something a bit more modern and light, but after my first ride I was hooked by the retro MTB bug (sadly not the retro road bug - been there, done that, bought a 2010 Allez instead  ), So over the period of a year I built it up with modernish 9 speed XT and now use it as my regular bike which I ride XC, trail centers and some very light touring on.

So now for my next Retro bike..... can I find something older than me (1994)

I got a GT Tequesta for £20, identified with help from this forum as 1998, and found this place by googling for something, possibly bottom bracket specs. I've replaced most of the parts, including a rigid modern aluminium fork and a hydraulic disc brake on the front, so it's not authentic, but I'm sold on steel frames again, after years on an aluminium Rockhopper then Trek 4500 (I replaced the Specialized frame after rupturing a disc in my back and finding I couldn't reach the handlebars any more).

I like it here. I've spent time on Singletrackworld forum but find some of it a bit adolescent (though I've had some great advice and cheap parts from there too). There's more of an attitude of "it's not worth fixing, just get a new one" over there, whereas here that would just be missing the point. I like that.

Hello@All.

Why I´m here? Well, gotta blame my son! :D Last year same time he wants to go
for a bikeride with me, but I had no such thing you guy´s would´ve called a bike at
all, so I had to get one back then.

By now I´ve had six - still five downstairs - including 2 x Klein, 2 x Votec and a
Breezer. More/changes shure will come 8)

I´m active on the IBC-Side in .de; here I´m still not shure how to handle everything;
don´t now how or were to upload pic´s. Kind of a feedback from a newbie

Cheers@All

Hi All,

I'm a keen mtb'er with 20+ years or riding under my belt. Hoping to get some advice and help on an old Orange Aluminium O that I'm hoping to breath a little life back into.

Cheers

Will

Allo

Phil from Newcastle, UK.

I was a bmx modifier as a kid, hanging round the local tip waiting for bikes that were getting dumped. I'd forage & salvage all sorts of stuff to build & better the collection of BMXs I had, mainly Raleigh Burners.

About 5 years ago I got into MTBs, bought a 99 Kona Chute toured the trail centres & now I'm hooked.

Found this site looking for info on my Chute.

In my quiver I have:
198? Diamond Back BMX that I am yet to identify.
???? Raleigh Dyna-Tech (cromo) but its cracked so just hangs in my garage.
1999 Kona Chute.
2000 Kona Stab Dee-Lux.
2005 Craftworks FRM125.
2012 Genesis Equilibrium (road bike).

Greetings!

I've been reading for quite some time and thought it's about time to post.

I'm in California. I recently had an old Cannondale...I can't even remember the model. I think it was from 1990. It was black with white that looked like spider webs.

Then I sold my 1988 Diamond Back Accent EX. I'm left with two Zaskars.

I love to see the older Zaskars and GTs from the early 90s.

Thanks for reading. .

Howdy, ive got a '95 Tufftrax and now a Alpina Motorama.

Bought the saracen a couple of years back and it reminded me of childhood days with saracen bikes, searched for other retro saracens....found this site.

Love it, good to be here. I want a Kili Racer, a Race Elite and a Kili Flyer, one day.

Ciao

Hi

I'm new on here and just getting back into cycling after a long gap (pretty much since I learnt to drive lol!). Anyways, I used to cycle everywhere and loved it, hence wanting to take it up again as part of a commitment to getting fitter and improving my health etc.

Been googling for info on upgrading/restoring my old mtb and came across this forum that way.
