Got some XT 7/8 thumbshifters I've been keeping back for the Team Ti build, but have made a mess of the XTR M900 rear mech I was hoping to use :(

So I'm thinking of options now, could go for another M900 but nice ones are quite pricey and M950 may be a bit more period correct, but I'd really like to use the thumbshifters. Question is though, are they compatible? Does the indexing work with XT thumbies and XTR M950 8 speed rear mech? :?

Cheers

Yes - the rear mech has no idea what shifters you are using as long as they are Shimano and not 1:1 actuation like SRAM or new 10spd Shimano

Hmmm that opens up some possibilities.... would a Dura Ace rear mech look out of place ...?

If you want dura ace (like on my O :D) and want to index the shifters you will need 7700 at the earliest. Before then they had a different pull ratio.

I am guessing that if you just use the friction mode it wont matter? LGF will prob know that one.

FYI I paid £25 for mine, the quality is superb!

Had to take a look and *Wow*, nice Overburys!

The DA mech stands out beautifully, and would nicely match the polished USE post, Marin Lite Stem and WI cranks waiting to go on the Team Ti...

Think I need to start a build thread...... need some pics first really!

Where's that camera....? 8)
