Na, cup hands together and place item into bare hands, get girlfriend/wife/child to sprinkle liberally with caustic soda then place hands under hot running tap. When your skin starts to burn you know that the item will be anodising free. This way ensures that you never over do it and wreck your parts.

I find using my wifes best cooking spoon to remove the clean items from the steaming chemical broth adds a delightful piquancy to the next batch of chili con carne
