Alpinestars Full Suspension - anyone remember???

Was flicking through an old 'how to ride offroad' book on holiday and came across these pictures of what appears to be an Alpinestars FS - I was unaware that they made such a thing. Can anyone remember if they did exist, what happened to them (licensing issues or did they go bust?) and, has anyone seen one about... As a time guide, the American book was published in 1997 so I'd guess it would be at least a year if not two before publication.

I vaguely remember seeing one in the German 'BIKE Markt'. Somewhere around 1995.
 
they were in regular production, and there was even an MBA test. Good performers for what I remember.
The coolest Alpinestars proto was the '92 one, it had a triple clamp fork, a massive single tube (a la t26) and the damper was inside the tube itself. Shiny silver, too. i had a pic in a magazine but 1 I haven't got a scanner 2 I've lost the mag, so no proof.
