Just grabbed some gripshifts out the parts bin for my latest build, but they say ESP on them.

Are they the ones that don't work with Shimano?

Thanks in advance.

No, the ones that do! Now replaced with MRX.

Thought the ESP system was the 1:1 ratio while shimano uses 2:1.....

The older gripsifts: Words (attack, etc) work with shinano) Numbers (3.0, 5.0, 7.0, 9.0) work with sram. So your esp x.x will work with sram, due to the 1:1 ratio

ESp were sram weren't they at first?, think it depends on the model some are 1:1 ratio but others arn't things like the x rays ran with shimano as I dont think sram had a rear mech out then. COuld of course be worng though.

X-rays (words) ran shimano. All the ESP ones have numbers like 3.0 etc

The early ESP were Sachs ones then so many were Sram ESP, they were Shimano 2:1 ratios, (I had all these Esp-9's on my bikes with XTR 8 spd shifters no problems. Then they converted to 1:1 still badged ESP. but the model shape had changed, so was confusing until you got to know which did what. The 1:1 ones had plastic bodies and silver alloy cages.
