I think the way to go for now is to get this driveside one, fit it and try and get hold of a right hand pedal.

Two rights don't make a wrong an all...

If you want to get round the pedal unwinding problem you can usually swap the axles over from a right pedal, quite a common thing to do in the BMX world where some people run there drivetrain on the left to avoid grind damage.

The pedal thing shouldn't be a problem - the thread would tend to undo it when it's correctly oriented, so if it's reversed it would tend to tighten not loosen.

It's how I always remember which way to undo a pedal - if you were pedalling and the pedal axle seized, it would undo.
