1993-ish OR Race size XL as seen on the White Rim Trail in 2007.
This is my 3rd Bontrager. This frame had square decals upon purchase and is Ser# 102.
Manitou SX-R fork. WTB GreaseGuard BB.
This bike was 8sp/canti levered until I moved to central Idaho where the terrain dictated some mods...9sp SRAM and Mech discs.
If I keep this bike, the next improvement will be a GravityDropper post. Again dictated by terrain and 6'3" height.
Frame and fork were repainted to deter theft. Theft was the fate of my 1st Bontrager. I purchased a purple OR Race frame and fork in 1994 (Ser#174). I still have the original brochure and will post scans soon.
I was fortunate enough at that time to know and ride with a guy that did some of the Bontrager rim rolling. He never would part with his 140mm BarStem but he did part w/ a pair of original MA40 cutdown wheels (lost in the theft). He was the source of many replacement chainsuck plates too. I bet he still has that BarStem the bastard...why the BarStem idea never caught on still baffles me.
