How do you get the shine back into a polished & laquered alu frame? Is it a worthwhile exercise?

So does this mean using something like a Nitromors to remove the laquer and then using Autosol as a polish? What about a mechanical polisher rather than a bit of rag and elbow grease? Is it worthwhile getting the frame re-laquered afterwards? So many questions to ask!
