Knowing the years of Judys?

I have at least 5 judys here in various state of wear, two SL, 1 T2, 1 TT, 1 XC, 1 FSX.

Can i see on the forks when they was made?

I think there is a date stamp on the rear of the brace, you may have to unbolt it to see it though. First Flight Bikes is always a good indicator of what year forks were introduced.

I need to know the model years because I want the bolted crown and it appears to be on 1995 Judy SLs only with aluminium steerer?
I like the bolted crown of two causes:
1. easy to change the inner legs to clean ones.
2. Reduce or raise the A-C height to suit my 1995 Zaskar.

I just made a 1390 gram 80mm travel Judy SL with steel hardware.

Want to reduce the weight but maintain the stiffness.

Add an alloy steerer plus Total Air cartidges and you can easily have a 2.8lbs fork.

FYI, the 3-piece lowers with Ti hardware weigh less than the 1-piece units and the FSX lowers are heavier than 3-piece Judy SL lowers from my experience.

It appears that Judys came with bolt-on steerer assemblies through the 1996 model year. They went to pressed steerers in 1997. I've got the manuals handy in PDF if you would like a copy.
