I dont know whether this has already been covered, but I was trying to find any Reynolds 753 frames MTB's.
Apart from the Zinn 753 and some Raleigh Dynatech frames using Mang-Moly for example for the chainstays etc, I can't find anything.
I understand the certification process involved and the exclusivityand time consumption - hence costs, but anyone have any other makers MTB frames which used this steel?

Thanks

The only ones I have come across were craft builders (Dave Yates, Chas May etc). A builder needed special certification to use 753: overheat the tubes and they reverted to plain old 531.
The fact that 753 cannot be welded kept it out of mass production - just like 531 and 653.

I’ve not been able to find a Yates or Chas 753 MTB - only road bikes/racers.

If you have any links - I’d love to see!

The Yates was about 30 years ago, not seen one since, sorry. Tony Oliver also built some, mainly as off-road tourers.
Chas told me he only built a few and the sort of people who wanted them were also the sort of people who rode them hard...and broke them.

Re:

Also, the earlier incarnations of the Roberts D.O.G.S.B.O.L.O.X used silver soldered Reynolds 753 seat stays, brazed to the Columbus SL monostay.

Thanks for those beauties!
I'm curious - is there a link to the Roberts please?

I also discovered the 1991 Barrie Clark's Raleigh Dynatech with a bonded 2080 Tubeset (753?)

The build threads are below in the signature...

Certainly the Raleigh team did use Reynolds 753 for sure
