Found this in my attic, had this since 97 and shows the model range for the following year.

I got a Max Cromo 2 for Christmas 97, I loved that bike, thinking back it was probably two sizes too big for me. Sadly long lost.

I think they were the last of the British Raleighs but I might be wrong (the big marketing tag line was that they were a U.S.A design with oversize tubes. I just remember it being really light (I had an Activator 1 back when I was 10 and it nearly put me off Raleighs, the forks never worked, the pedal fell off on my first proper ride and it weighed a ton and a half) That Max was streets ahead of that.
I have to say the speckled finish of the Activator was pretty nice aesthetically though.

Thanks for the brochure pics. I rate my recently acquired and slightly upgraded Max.

Here's mine from the US of Stateside. It's not actually my original one that I bought in 1990 but I managed to find another of the exact same model. And this time it's an 18" not the 20" I bought aged 15 expecting to 'grow into'.

I'm confused about the Raleigh USA - UK relationship. Were they competing or did it all end up in the same shareholder dividend?
