Re:

The specialized Rockhopper is a 1991 frame is 20" the groupset is original with original wheels, upgraded tektro cantilevers & bars changed!

Bought off Steveo77 back in October 2019, a member of RB this site.

It was bought second hand I guess by Stevo from Recycle a Bike, Milton Keynes in 2006 to do a Coast to Coast run.

Coast to Coast was done in 2007 starting in Whitehaven ending at Roker Sunderland, there were plenty of photos that accompanied this ride but unfortunately got lost when his laptop died!

Anyway... I rode it a couple of times this year & like it a lot. I'm thinking I'm gonna strip it clean up the original paint, it's not all that bad.
Probably replace the seat post & saddle, bar's & got some XT 731 pedals kicking around that'll look better!

LOVE it. The colours on that era Rockhoppers and Stumpy are some of my favourite. I agree, freshen up and enjoy the ride, don't go changing too much!

Enjoy

Thanks, mate that means something coming from you.... much appreciated...

OK, here's my 88 Rockhopper in slightly better shape than the pic I posted previously. Refitted original bar, found a nice Spesh stem slightly longer than the original which really helps with comfort. Icing on cake was sourcing an original saddle, looks good and feels great. Also stuck on some awesome period correct NOS Hutchinson tyres that have a blue accent which works nice with the decals on the frame.

Was intended as a long term casual/workhorse but have just picked up an early Dawes so the Hopper may have to go :(

Re:

Here’s my 96 steel stumpy...
I love the colour. It’s as I collected it and is in line to be fettled....

However I’m having mixed thoughts about a repaint (advantaged are that I can get paint match and laquer over decals as factory finish) or powdercoat (much more durable but probs won’t get exact match and decals will sit proud).
Gil M can kindly do exact decal match for this model...

Or I could just attempt a sympathetic paint restoration and touch it up but some of the decals as pictured are tatty....

Here it is as it stands pre restoration...

Here is my 93 Rockhopper expert, mostly original except for the wheels/tyres, handlebars and saddle. Probably my favourite colour!!

Built it for cruising around town but it turned out way too nice for that. So I've now bought a 93 Hard Rock to build up.

My freshly rebuilt '95 Stumpy FS. Classy colour under sunlight, and geometry is a great fit for me. Am planning on colour coding the fork at some point.
