Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

I just came across this nice example of a 90s hybrid (Schwinn Criss-Dross) to gravel bike conversion:

I suppose turning a hybrid into a gravel bike would be easier than converting an MTB. Maybe I'll give it a try someday if I can find a Dynatech XC50 in my size.

weird suspension and discs aside...

I now have this to mangle - rifled Reynolds 708 tubing, spare spoke holders and more braze-ons than you (yes, you especially) can shake a spare spoke at

35mm tyres fit but wont leave room for the Guards of Mud.

Something I built in 2009 (retro 'retro'?)
