My 3 Gary Fisher : CR7 1991 & Montare 1992 & Supercaliber 1990

Re: Help needed to identify a Gary Fisher CR7 !! A weird one !!

is that a crack on the bottom bracket shell between the stays??

Re: Help needed to identify a Gary Fisher CR7 !! A weird one !!

I painted the fork, new stem (shorter), new handlebar (lighter), new grips with lock-on, new tires, new saddle stem & saddle, Magura HS22

Lovely! I remember my mate borrowing one from a shop back in '91. Very cool. Didn't the headtubes like to crack on these?

Re:

thank you

I don't know for the headtubes, that's my first CR7, but I'll try to ride carefully

it's in Cr-Mo, and 1"1/4 (the old one was on 1"1/:cool:

fortunately I had an old MTB with headset in 1"1/4, so :

I changed the tires : put a Schwalbe Hans Dampf and a Bontrager XR3 (in 2.30 wide for the 2), it's happiness in the mud and on the stones

I am still amazed by the pleasure that this old bike provides :xmas-big-grin:

Re:

Last Monday I found this bike near my house! :D

I'm waiting for parts to rebuild it, and today I removed the fork
The pivot had a little rust and dried grease, but above all the expander was stuck in the tube! :x and installed upside down !!! :x

hammer & penetrating oil, and after a while the expander is released

guess why it was stuck?

to be continued...

I will do more pictures tomorrow.
Thank you

EDIT : Montare -> viewtopic.php?f=1&t=402935&p=3086230#p3086230

Composite frame. Aluminum main frame and steel stays. Just like the Mantis XCR. I believe the stays are bolted. Mantis used suntour chainring bolts. One of those early MTB experiments.
