There's a '92 603gs in the old coal shed at my house. Now sporting LX rear mech, DX cantis, an Exage front mech, and an original pair of panaracer smokes. THink there is some x-lite stuff on it too. Just a shame the chainset is made from cast iron.

I scored a 1990 704XT the other day - been hamerited in silver and had the typical S/S cable guide removal but she's still straight and rust free 8)

Picked up this 702 lx a while back, all original but needs a little tlc. Planning to put it together for the better half.

This really takes me back to my penniless student days in the 80s. I remember one of the college staff arriving on a yellow one in 88/89, sometime, and it caused a right stir. Soon after, the college quadrangle started filling with assorted mountain bikes as the biking buzz grew. I'd torment myself by continually looking through the catalogues lusting after the 601GS, 700, 703DX, 704XT. Then I ended up with a Marin that someone was selling on  May be people didn't hang on to their Ridgebacks for long as they lusted for tricker rides. May be they weren't looked after or valued as much as the more glamorous brands or just ended up in the wrong hands. I would have loved one though – still would.
