Hi all - looking to get my brothers Cannondale mtb back to original & need a little help with the year & model ? on the underside of the seat stay are the ' dot numbers ' 20041789199 - we think its a m700 but as all the paint has been removed its not clear . has standard vertical dropouts ( not beast of the east extra horizontal type ) & the rear cable hanger has a adjuster . Any help on year / model or even better colour would be great .thanks

Just ID’d a sad Dale frame I had in the woodshed which corresponds to your descriptiobn - I went through the catalogues - 1988 had Dia Compe centre pull brakes not cantis - in 1990 they introduced the weird cantilever dropouts, and this frame had the plate dropouts. So if you have plate dropouts and canti bosses that places it in one year of production - it's a 3.0 series 1989 frame.
Ithink that’s right but others may have more intel.
I have karma’d my frame to a guy in bridport just sorting the postage....
They are fabulous frames...really cool. But I have so many projects that I felt I had to karma it..
