Thinking of picking up a Breezer Lightning to restore. Are the frame decals available anywhere?

I think a retrobiker here nicknamed Gil-M or search Retrodecals on facebook (same person) can help you with it. ;)

I recently saw a very neglected and partially corroded Lightning for sale, at a super low price and I had similar thoughts. (It could well be the same one you're thinking of purchasing - whole lotta work involved in repainting that one!)

Contact JB through the Marin Museum website mmbhof.org (some great info on there well worth a couple hours poring over) and ask if he has spares or can point you to someone who does, if you're serious about a proper restoration. A Lightning, in my humble opinion, deserves full and meticulous attention. I suppose every Breezer should be restored meticoulously, but getting those spears positioned accurately is key to a Lightning's authenticity and making it valuable for a whole while longer. Hope you go for it. I'd love to see another decent Breezer rebuild.

I'm still living in hope I'll find a worthy 90s' Breezer frame to restore myself some day. Till then, I have a contemporary Breezer Repack built for bashing down hills at speed and even riding back up again comfortably and efficiently (unless I choose to hitch a ride - which I do more often than not on an uplift trailer!)

Rebuilt my 1994 Thunder. Tried to stay close to original setup. Hope to find a nice Lightning frameset one day (in size 19). Correction: hope to find the funds for one.

Re:

This is my son’s Breezer (modern).. I picked this so he could get a feel for the history of mtbs. First time I took him to a trail, an older gentleman approached us. The old guy went on and on how Breezer was a great bike. My son was hooked before we made it to the trail.

Re: 1993 Jet Stream

I rode a 1993 Storm as a teenager—eventually had it built with tons or Ritchey parts and a soft ride stem, great bike. It was stolen at Big Bear in 1995, the night before a NORBA national!

Couldn’t believe it when I saw this one pop up on Craigslist last spring (price was low, drive to get it was long). Outside of the tires (it was slicks) it seemed like it came right off a sales floor. The frame is the same as a Lightning, but the build is XT/Ritchey.

Re: First Breezer

Hi guys, I've just picked up my first Breezer, it's a 94? Thunder (can I get anyone to confirm the year?) and it's in pretty rough shape, but I intend to restore it to (close to) its former glory. Picked it up for $200USD. Swapped a few things (fork and wheels namely) but it rides great! Cheers, Vladic - (how do I post images? which hosting website works best?)
