i've got a confession...

looking at my bike today i realised something...

non-original paint
alternate year decals
charge spoon
modern shifters & mechs
turn of the century V's
canti guide empty
usually wears semi slicks (well, conti double fighters at the moment)
long seatpost (i prefer shorter frames, don't know why i just do)
short 0deg road stem

oh bugger! i will post pics of the offending article when i've got the new (to me) crank on it!

How about, "a bunch of moaners who can fill 14 pages with the things they don't like and only 5 with the ones they do..." :D :D :D

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... 6&start=60
Surely that should come as no true surprise, though. Some things are almost axiomatic - most, generally, are more ready to criticise than to praise. Wonder if that's a British thing, or much the same the world over...
Well I opened this topic and I'm Italian...

Nothing here that surprises very much, though I i'm probably a little more tolerant than some.

The only things I do hate to see on a pre 97 bike are
1) spinergy or spin wheels - neither that functional or attractive;
2) grip shift - I tried it once and didn't like it;
3) badly angled saddle is just unforgivable.

Things that are in that in-between zone where they are ok in the right situation are:
Risers so long as not used with a long stem or those 700mm+ wide 31.8 size bars ;
Modern tires, so long as not over 2.2" or stupidly coloured;
Mixing components from different groupsets (after all I would haVe upgraded or mixed parts BITD);
I can even tolerate vee brakes for the same reason.

In the really couldn't care less category....
Amberwalls vs black tires...yawn
Quill vs ahead stem

Reviving an old thread rather than starting a new one, in order to say....

Brake Boosters!

Bloody hideous things that add weight and ruin aesthetics! :evil:
