What size loose bearings/cage does a 1991 kona impact headset take for the top cup.

I've nothing to go from to measure as whoever rebuilt this just chucked 15 loose bearings in there, no cage and about only 2/3 of the cup covered by bearings.

Hi,
If you don't have a vernier or some kind of bearing gauge then just take them along to your local bike shop & ask for replacement bearings!

I've got a vernier but as I said if the person before me has just put bearings loose in the cup with no cage( not even filling the cups with right amount ) and they thought that was ok how do I know they've even bothered to put the right size ball bearings in.

Spot on and good call as the previous owner also had the wrong bearings in the lower cup according to this
