The last time I went out on my STS was a bit sad. :( Resulting in a snapped mech hanger. Fortunately, no damage to anything else (or so I thought).

Anyway, the replacement mech hanger has duly arrived from BETD, together with a spare. And some middleburn cable oilers. I’ve always wondered whether they were any good and as BETD now own Middleburn it seemed a plan.

Discovered mid assembly that the b screw had snapped off the rear mech too. Fortunately I had a spare mech handy.

Here she is, complete with new forks, wheels and brakes and to round her off, cable oilers.

Always loved an STS. Nice bike. :) Sorry to hear about your mech and hanger as well... sounds like a pain im the rear!

Re:

All is not lost for your damaged mech. The broken part can be cannibalised from various Shimano mechs. Nice sts btw, seems crazy to follow thst statemwnt with i have a couple ive never ridden since building and may sell one or both.

Thanks Ian, ive long admired your STSs, do you know which mechs offhand? I took it to Bike Park Wales this weekend, Rode the blues and some reds ok. (I ran out of ability quite quickly.)

Re:

Id like to replace the worn out decals on the chainstays. Does any know what they looked like originally.

Re:

Fairly sure lx or xt of the same era work.

Decal wise I think you are looking at a gt chainstay protector on one side and a warning sticker on the other. Possibly a made in usa decal too.
