What paint for airbrushing my retro rides ?

Probably wrong room (sorry).

I bought myself a cheap and cheerful airbrushing kit and fancy doing some paint touch up (starting with some old scrap frames obviously !).

Any tips on paint etc ? Obviously lots of prep& masking needed.

What paint would be best, I have had one friend recommend decanting rattle can paint in the airbrush & another friend said DON'T use rattle can.... (see my problem).

Also will old (20-30 y/o bike) paint react with new ? Presumably GT weren't using water based paint in the early 90s.....

I've never used it, but I would probably try this.I wouldn't do an entire frame in it though.

Re:

I have used Humbrol air drying craft enamels in the past , they come in a wide range of colours
and can produce a very good finish with care

You will just need to experiment with the correct ratio of thinners to paint required to get a sprayable mix

I flatted the existing paint finish and took rust spots back to bare metal before spraying
