This is a new one on me.
Magazine scans courtesy of Pascal Laurent over at 26" Canal Historique on Facebook:

Looks like a Boulder Gazelle style internal shock, with some crazy upside down double crown forks. 4" travel claimed.
And a handy cable routing to get around the lack of a canti hanger

Did this ever go anywhere?

All the best,

Re:

The scan is from VTT magazine, september 1991 and the name of the project was T44 :D

Pascal Laurent is Pascal3 on Retrobike ;)

Thanks, 24pouces,

I thought he would be around here somewhere.
His 90's magazine scans are providing some excellent bedtime reading :D

Amicalement,

Must be a prototype in VTT...slightly different (reinforced) swingarm in the 1992 Alpinestars catalogue:

So there were at least 2 made.
:)

All the best,

I like the look of the first one more! Definitely interesting though - triple clamp inverted forks in 1991!

And I wonder how the brakes actually worked, that cable routing effectively turns the standard calipers into V brakes, a few years ahead of their time.

Re:

The prototype was steel, at least the first one I think.
It was crap and weighed a lot.

Now to remember where I read that...

Mr Photobucket wants shooting

Astars is like an ugly spawn of the Crosstrac & Boulder

Re:

I saw that bike on a magazine cover. Perhaps MBUK… and the bike was red :D
