Kona Joe Murray

Konasplatter

Retro Newbie
Hi all. I have a vintage Kona Lava Dome frame, designed by Joe Murray. The paint scheme is yellow with a multi-colored splatter all over. I'm wondering what year it is. I loved the look and I'll admit I don't know a lot about bikes, so I'm also wondering what size forks I would need to make this frame a rideable bike.

Re:

1990 or earlier. Fork steerer will be head tube length plus 32-33mm for the low-stack Impact headset. Must be 386mm axle to crown (not "suspension corrected").

Re:

I think you'll need a 1" Project Two fork - not as common as 1 1/8" but probably cheap when you do find one - Kona changed to 1 1/8" very early on so not many people want the older forks.

Re:

No, I'm not looking for suspension. It is a threaded fork, I didn't realise this until I tried putting on my threadless Rock Shox fork from another bike.
