Suntour cassette removal

Re:

I assume the 4 prong tools are better than the earlier 2 prong tools, but give the threads a squirt with some penetrating oil and then hold the tool to the freewheel with a quick release skewer, with a tiny bit of slack so that the freewheel can unscrew the first quarter turn or so.

With the earlier two prong tools a tight freewheel would just break the prongs off the tool.

please be so kind and let me hijack this thread: i'm having the same problem. trying to undo the kassette of a suntour xcd hub that provides neither splines nor notches to start with. is the smallest cog a lock nut? it look's just like on this web picture. please help me with your experiences ;)

Re:

That's a cassette. Having two chain whips will make easy work out of it. The smallest cog or the next one up will act as the lock ring.
